About Veterans Attorney Catherine Cornell
During a college internship at CNN in Washington, DC, I worked on a project about homeless veterans. After obtaining a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and landing my first job in TV news, I tried to raise awareness about underserved veterans. When I realized I could be more effective as a veterans attorney, I went to law school at Indiana University and ultimately established my own law firm located outside of Chicago, dedicated to helping veterans and their families obtain VA disability compensation benefits. While I am not a veteran, my father served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. I am admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Illinois Supreme Court. I am also accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs and a member of the National Organization of Veterans Advocates.
When I am not busy with my work as a veterans lawyer I love to crochet, do glasswork and bake. I also love to swim and kickbox, and my happy place is on my bicycle. I am always looking for new ways to explore Chicago and fun things to do with my husband, our two children and our rescue dog Rosie.
